Project Based Learning – From Theory to Practice

Thusanang House is a hands-on project by students for students. Its construction is supported by the Kreishandwerkerschaft Steinfurt Warendorf as part of the Vocational Education and Training Partnership (BBP) with the Motheo TVET College in Bloemfontein. Thusanang stands for ‘mutual support’ in the local Tswana dialect.
Construction of the large construction project within the BBP with the Motheo TVET College began on 9 September, on which all the different trades will work hand in hand. Thusanang House was designed with a number of goals in mind: Trade students at Motheo College can put theory directly into practice, in line with the idea of project-based learning. The house is also intended to fulfil a long-term purpose on campus and serve as a training workshop for future students, among other things. Here, students will gain entrepreneurship skills, while the house will also serve the community, fostering practical skills, teamwork, and pride in craftsmanship.
