From Jordan into German Craft Apprenticeship

,

Kreishandwerkerschaft Steinfurt Warendorf is delighted to welcome, for the third time, a new group of apprentices from Jordan, who will begin their apprenticeships in the two districts right away. This so-called apprenticeship partnership for the integration and promotion of young talent from Jordan was organized through giz in collaboration with the Jordanian Ministry of Labour. Further German skilled trades associations, such as chambers of craft and commerce as well as vocational trade associations, along with their local member businesses, are additionally involved.

A total of seven young Jordanian talent will begin their apprenticeships this year in various trades such as electronics, mechanical engineering, and automotive mechatronics at member businesses in the Steinfurt and Warendorf districts. KH views this step as an asset to the regional economy and an important contribution to securing a skilled workforce.

We are very pleased to be able to offer young people from Jordan opportunities for the future while also strengthening our collaboration with our partner companies.

The program began as a pilot project in 2024 with four apprentices from Jordan, at that time with KH as its sole German partner. Over the course of three years, KH has placed a total of 21 apprentices from Jordan with member companies. Applicants first complete a 6- to 9-month German language course, at the end of which they receive a B1 language certificate from the Goethe Institute—a prerequisite for obtaining a visa. In addition to placing apprentices with businesses, assisting them in finding housing, and coordinating travel, we also provide support after their arrival with language and cultural orientation, as well as with visits to authorities and other formalities such as registering with the local municipality, opening a bank account, registering with the immigration office, etc.

We are excited and wish everyone involved the best success!
