From Accra To Sunyani – Checkup In Ghana
As part of a giz/sequa-initiated project in Ghana, Kreishandwerkerschaft Steinfurt Warendorf was assigned the task of sending two experts in the fields of welding and plumbing (HVAC) technology to Ghana to conduct an assessment. The agenda included workshop inspections in Accra, Sunyani and Kumasi, aimed at reviewing and evaluating the status of equipment and training standards. The facilities are part of the Don Bosco network in Ghana, from which the experts received considerable support with travel arrangements and local contacts. In particular, the visit to the Catholic Technical Institute in Kumasi yielded many new insights and facilitated an open dialogue with students and trainers.
The workshops and training centres received a positive assessment overall, meaning the next steps can be rolled out on the ground in the coming months. The initial plan is to review the teaching materials, followed by a train-the-trainer programme for local trainers conducted by expert staff assigned by us.
The first step has been made and we look forward to continuing our excellent collaboration with our colleagues on the ground
